{"id":7183,"date":"2025-05-21T14:20:48","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T14:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oceanpanel.org\/?p=7183"},"modified":"2025-09-12T18:46:37","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T18:46:37","slug":"the-republic-of-chile-receives-peter-benchley-ocean-award-for-excellence-in-national-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oceanpanel.org\/zh\/the-republic-of-chile-receives-peter-benchley-ocean-award-for-excellence-in-national-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"The Republic of Chile Receives Peter Benchley Ocean Award for Excellence in National Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Chile has been awarded the Peter Benchley Ocean Award for Excellence in National Leadership in recognition of its commitment to sustainable ocean governance through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minrel.gob.cl\/noticias-anteriores\/en-el-dia-mundial-de-los-oceanos-canciller-alberto-van-klaveren-firma\">\u56fd\u5bb6\u6d77\u6d0b\u8ba1\u5212<\/a> (NOP).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The award celebrates Chile\u2019s commitment to sustainably manage 100% of its ocean territory already protecting 43% of its jurisdictional waters &#8211; far surpassing global targets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Accepting the award, Ambassador Paula Narv\u00e1ez stated:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>&#8220;<i><span data-ogsc=\"black\">It is an honour and a privilege to receive the Award for Excellence in National Management on behalf of the Government of <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">\u667a\u5229<\/span>. <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">\u667a\u5229<\/span> has a deep and enduring connection with the ocean. With more than 4,000 kilometers of coastline and a tricontinental presence, the ocean is an essential part of our national identity. More than 90% of our exports and digital connectivity depend on it. We simply cannot understand ourselves without the ocean. <span class=\"outlook-search-highlight\" data-markjs=\"true\">\u667a\u5229<\/span> was a pioneer in the development of the Law of the Sea and has reaffirmed that legacy by becoming one of the first countries to ratify the BBNJ Treaty, also known as the High Seas Treaty. We receive this award with sincere gratitude.
