Luis Montenegro is the Prime Minister of Portugal. He was sworn in as Leader of the XXIV Government of Portugal after the 2024 parliamentary elections. His government was formed under the motto \u201cGoverning for the People\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Prime Minister Montenegro was born in Porto on February 16, 1973. He is married and father of two children.<\/span><\/p>\n

He graduated in Law by the Portuguese Catholic University, obtained a post-graduation degree in Personal Data Protection Law, and completed an Advanced Management Program in INSEAD.<\/span><\/p>\n

He founded a law firm specialized in the areas of Labor and Human Resources Law, Personal Data Protection Law, Regulatory, Competition and Supervisory Law, Health Law and European Union Law.<\/span><\/p>\n

In politics, he served as an elected member and President of the Municipal Assembly of the city of Espinho and as an elected City Councillor of the same Municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2002 he was elected to the Portuguese Parliament, holding that position for 16 years (he was re-elected in four consecutive legislative elections: 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2015). He became the leader of the Social Democratic Party Parliamentary Group between 2011 and 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n
