Yoshihide Suga was elected as President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the 99th Prime Minister of Japan in September 2020.

Suga has been elected to the House of Representatives eight times consecutively since October 1996 and has assumed various ministerial roles. Prior to taking office as Prime Minister, Suga served as the Chief Cabinet Secretary and Minister in charge of Mitigating the Impact of U.S. Forces in Okinawa as well as Minister in charge of the Abductions Issue.

Suga was born and raised in Akita Prefecture. Suga graduated from Hosei University with a degree in law.
