Week 2 at COP30 in Belem, Brazil\u00a0<\/span>will have a strong focus on the ocean.\u00a0<\/span>In the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>official programme<\/span><\/span><\/a>, November 17 and 18 will elevate \u201cboth planetary and community stewardship – centering on Forests, Oceans, and Biodiversity\u201d.\u00a0<\/span>Meanwhile\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ocean Pavilion<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>will hold events throughout the conference and the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Virtual Ocean Pavilion<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>is also live for participants who wish to join remotely.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hosted by\u00a0Ocean Panel member,\u00a0Kenya and the World Resources Institute,\u00a0this high-level session\u00a0will spotlight Africa\u2019s growing leadership in advancing ocean-climate solutions and unveil Kenya\u2019s priorities and official dates for hosting the 2026 Our Ocean Conference. Featuring high-level speakers and interactive dialogue, the event aims to\u00a0mobilise\u00a0new partnerships, financing, and commitments to accelerate ocean-climate resilience and action across the continent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This high-level event will focus\u00a0feature actions shifting ocean-climate ambition to tangible implementation,\u00a0showcasing\u00a0progress under the\u00a0<\/span>Blue NDC Challenge<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and the Action Agenda Blue Package. Bringing together governments and non-state actors\u00a0to deliver\u00a0on the First Global Stocktake and chart the course for stronger, more coordinated ocean-climate action heading into COP31.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Following a high-level governmental address,\u00a0panellists will explore how international cooperation is evolving across sectors, discuss best practices & identify actionable strategies to strengthen collaborative efforts in addressing pressing ocean challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on the momentum from the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC) and looking ahead to COP31, this panel will explore how\u00a0equitable,\u00a0cross-regional collaboration can translate ocean-climate ambition into\u00a0impact. Focusing on partnerships between Australia and Pacific nations, the session will highlight\u00a0mechanisms for\u00a0shared\u00a0stewardship, blue governance, and investment that connects climate, communities, and ocean health.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since its launch by France and Brazil at UNOC, the Blue NDC Challenge has become a rallying call to champion ocean solutions at the heart of global climate action. This high-level session will launch the report – The State of Ocean-based Climate Action in Updated 2025 NDCs -\u202fspotlighting progress made since June and\u00a0showcasing\u00a0how ocean-based solutions are being integrated into national strategies for mitigation, adaption, and resilience.
