Il a occup\u00e9 le poste de pr\u00e9sident de l&#039;Assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des Nations Unies de septembre 2016 \u00e0 septembre 2017. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 repr\u00e9sentant permanent des Fidji aupr\u00e8s de l&#039;ONU de f\u00e9vrier 2010 \u00e0 septembre 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Thomson a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu pr\u00e9sident de la session 2011 de l&#039;Assembl\u00e9e de l&#039;Autorit\u00e9 des fonds marins de l&#039;Institut, puis pr\u00e9sident du Conseil de l&#039;Autorit\u00e9 pour sa session 2015. En 2013, il a pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 le Groupe des 77 et la Chine aux Nations Unies au nom des Fidji et a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sident du Conseil d&#039;administration du PNUD\/UNFPA\/UNOPS de 2014 \u00e0 2015.<\/p>\n<p>En tant que fonctionnaire du gouvernement des Fidji, il a consacr\u00e9 de nombreuses ann\u00e9es de sa vie \u00e0 travailler dans les domaines du d\u00e9veloppement rural, puis des affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res. De 1988 \u00e0 2009, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de conseil en d\u00e9veloppement Thomson Pacific bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Auckland, Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande et Sydney, Australie.<\/p>\n<p>Thomson est n\u00e9 \u00e0 Fidji, dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 du lyc\u00e9e Natabua.
