Este documento examina la distribuci\u00f3n de especies y h\u00e1bitats marinos cr\u00edticos en los oc\u00e9anos del mundo; analiza tendencias en impulsores, presiones, impactos y respuesta; y establece umbrales para proteger los hotspots de biodiversidad, as\u00ed como indicadores para monitorear el cambio. A partir de esta base cient\u00edfica, eval\u00faa el marco legal actual y las herramientas disponibles para la protecci\u00f3n de la biodiversidad, las brechas actuales en la gobernanza y gesti\u00f3n de los oc\u00e9anos y las implicaciones para lograr una econom\u00eda oce\u00e1nica sostenible adaptada a los estados costeros individuales agrupados por indicadores sociales.<\/p>\n
