Ocup\u00f3 el cargo de Presidente de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas desde septiembre de 2016 hasta septiembre de 2017. Fue Representante Permanente de Fiji ante la ONU desde febrero de 2010 hasta septiembre de 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Thomson fue elegido presidente de la Asamblea de la sesi\u00f3n de 2011 del Instituto de la Autoridad de los Fondos Marinos y luego presidente del Consejo de la Autoridad para su sesi\u00f3n de 2015. En 2013, presidi\u00f3 el Grupo de los 77 y China en las Naciones Unidas en nombre de Fiji y se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como presidente de la Junta Ejecutiva de PNUD\/UNFPA\/UNOPS de 2014 a 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Como funcionario del Gobierno de Fiji, dedic\u00f3 muchos a\u00f1os de su vida a trabajar en los campos del desarrollo rural y luego en los asuntos exteriores.
