Chile\u2019s Sustainable Ocean Plan, known as their National Ocean Program (NOP)<\/a>, takes an \u2018iterative approach\u2019, setting out a series of key initiatives across ocean sectors and establishing baselines to achieve Chile\u2019s commitment to sustainably manage 100% of ocean area under national jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

Chile actualmente protege 43% de sus aguas jurisdiccionales, superando el compromiso global establecido por m\u00e1s de 100 pa\u00edses de proteger 30% de aguas nacionales para 2030. Chile tambi\u00e9n tiene un impacto considerable en los sectores oce\u00e1nicos globales con la d\u00e9cima Zona Econ\u00f3mica Exclusiva (ZEE) m\u00e1s grande, la duod\u00e9cima m\u00e1s grande sector pesquero y el segundo m\u00e1s grande en la industria de la acuicultura del salm\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

En 2016, Chile estableci\u00f3 un Grupo de Trabajo Interministerial para coordinar las cuestiones oce\u00e1nicas entre los ministerios con responsabilidades oce\u00e1nicas. El Grupo de Trabajo coordin\u00f3 el an\u00e1lisis inicial de las pol\u00edticas oce\u00e1nicas de Chile y desarroll\u00f3 Lineamientos para la Pol\u00edtica Oce\u00e1nica Nacional que abordaron cuatro \u00e1reas: (1) alcance a mediano y largo plazo, (2) definici\u00f3n de criterios para el an\u00e1lisis, (3) identificaci\u00f3n de problemas en diferentes sectores , (4) an\u00e1lisis de las pol\u00edticas sectoriales actuales.<\/p>\n
